February is Heart Health Month, and this is the perfect time to get healthy, lose weight, and lower you cholesterol. I’m sure you know that heart disease is the leading cause of death in America, but together, we can fight back.
It starts with a healthy diet rich in fruits and vegetables, limiting the amount of unhealthy trans and saturated fats, and getting active. Exercising as little as thirty minutes a day can reduce your risk of heart disease, so walk around your neighborhood after dinner, or ride a bike at the park with your kids. Remember that stress is another piece of the heart health puzzle, so try not to let your stress get out of control. Smokers have a higher risk of developing chronic disorders which can lead to heart disease and stroke, so get on the bandwagon and quit smoking!
